Design
Some organizations don't need much interactivity, but still require solid organization, sensible navigation, and an attractive design. My designs are created according to the highest standards of validity, usability and accessibility, and supported by a strong academic background in information architecture and user experience.
Visualization
Even owners of small local operations might be surprised at how useful it can be to customers to access your information in engaging visual ways. You might be surprised at how making your products, services and information visually and interactively accessible to your client may increase sales and profit.
Interactivity
Many businesses purchase web designs that stop short of their full potential by neglecting to make themselves and their information available to consumers through a variety of media and formats in more visually appealing and interactive ways. Even businesses that operate on a simple concept or sell in a narrow niche can benefit from social networking, maps, blogging and more.
Availability
I'm generally available 10-15 hours per week on evenings (Tues/Thurs/Fri) and weekends (Sat and Sun afternoons). I work full-time as a programmer during the week (M-F 8-5). The disadvantage is that I have limited availability. The benefit is that you're hiring someone who knows what he's doing very well.
Workflow
Typically, each deliverable is completed throughout the week by the end of Saturday, and cleaned up, tested, and delivered on Sunday. If you're not satisfied with the deliverable and don't wish to pay, you have the choice to request changes or walk away from the project altogether. Similarly, if changing expectations make a particular project or deliverable too stressful to complete, I may choose to set the project aside and move on. This policy allows each of us to make economically wise decisions about how the project proceeds each step along the way without leaving the other with any more than a few hours or a few hundred dollars worse off, respectively. An agreement to this effect will be signed prior to commencing any work that we do together.
Rates
I charge a flat rate of $100 per billable hour, charged only after satisfactory completion of deliverables. Please bear in mind the following:
- Overall Value: Some individuals (often with less experience) may charge less. However many agencies will charge more by quoting longer timeframes for completion and/or charging a higher hourly rate.
- Experience = Value: You'll be paying a higher rate for faster work than you can expect from a college kid or junior programmer who still wants to charge you half as much or more for work that will be done at only a fraction of the pace. If you want a second opinion, give this a read.
- Built-in Satisfaction Guarantee: You only pay after completion of each deliverable increment (or groups of increments, depending on our agreement), so if after 5-10 hours of billable work you're not satisfied with the outcome, you can walk away without paying for any work that you're not happy with.
- 60% Billable Productivity: My quotes are typically based on a $60/hour high-end estimate of the amount of time that I'll expect to spend on the project. Rather than padding my quotes by telling you I'll take more time than I really plan to take, I charge a higher rate to compensate for overhead, learning curves, unanticipated meetings and often-unpredictable scope creep.
